For millions of Americans it was a day to celebrate, and for millions more it was a day of sobering disappointment. It remains as a day to remember for the whole world after a tumultuous presidential campaign that made Donald Trump the 45th President of the United States. Everyone who was in attendance that morning was tired and cold, but there was a certain energy within the crowd - a restless shine in their eyes. I felt out if place amid the sea of MAGA red. I was not excited, I was scared and anxious. Throughout the 2016 presidential campaign, the American people were divided by association; everyone was forced to choose between Trump or Clinton, right or left, right or wrong. There was a reluctance for either side to accept the other and find some common ground beyond the personality that they were voting for. But like everyone around me in that moment, I remained hopeful. Hopeful for change. Hopeful that maybe we can now set aside our petty differences, and settle on common ground. I remain hopeful to this day. In addition to documenting the event with photographs, I also produced a video piece which can be seen here.
